Working together

Real estate investment management company REDEVCO, together with Smartvatten, has completed a 1.5-year pilot with our devices at 7 of their locations in the Netherlands. With the collected data, REDEVCO has gained a lot of knowledge on the water usage of their buildings, and was able to analyze where to improve their water consumption together with their tenants. With this information, they hope to create a benchmark of the types of buildings they manage and compare those buildings to each other.

“The individual measures might be small, but all these measures together have a big impact. It’s about creating awareness in your water usage”

Pilot location The Fashion for Good Museum in Amsterdam

One of the pilot locations is The Fashion for Good Museum at the Rokin in Amsterdam. REDEVCO aims to make this the most sustainable listed building in the Netherlands. Shortly after installation, a leak was already detected. The company received an alert that the water consumption was also quite high during the night. This way, they found out one of the toilets was running water 24/7. Fixing this issue saves them 80 liters per hour, this means nearly 2000 liters on a daily basis.

Every month REDEVCO receives a water usage report via our cloud-based system. With these reports, they are able to analyze the results and, together with their tenants, have already taken some measures to reduce water consumption. For example: they’ve installed a filter on all the taps and added extra weight to the water tanks of the toilets, so less water is required to flush.

The company aims to reduce their water consumption with 20% for the year 2021 compared to 2020.

Next steps

  • REDEVCO is investigating the possibility to import the water data into a single dashboard, allowing them to see the water consumption as well as electricity use of an asset in one, convenient overview.
  • After the successful pilot in the Netherlands, they also plan a Smartvatten roll-out at locations in France.
