I have been positively surprised by how quickly leaks can be detected with the help of the service

Housing company Itäkumpu, built in 1968, is located in Espoo’s Iivisniemi. The 144 apartments of the massive housing company house approximately 250 people. Itäkumpu has been modernized according to needs. The renovations have been orchestrated by AIT Property Manager Ari Kiviniitty from Etuisännöinti in Espoo.

Implementing the Smartvatten Service

The Smartvatten remote monitoring service was implemented at the beginning of December 2015. Water saving installations were carried out before Christmas.

“The importance of the remote monitoring is immeasurable, because it eliminates significant risks.”

“Implementing the remote monitoring service was an easy decision for the board of the housing company as it is included in the Smartvatten service. Together with water savings installations, it is an investment with a clear redemption period.”

Previously, meters were read once a month, and the consumption data entered was into the available system and analyzed randomly. “The importance of the remote monitoring is immeasurable, because it eliminates significant risks,” Kiviniitty describes.

Leak Alert

At the end of January, there was a toilet device malfunction in Itäkumpu. With the help of the remote monitoring service, the leak was detected immediately and alerts sent to the property manager and maintenance. Maintenance worker from Soukan Huolto discovered the leaking equipment quickly and repaired the broken mechanism. The leak was significant, as 8 liters of water was leaking directly from the device located in the housing company’s laundry facilities to the sewer each minute. On an annual level, the cost of this type of leak would be more than 13,000 euros if the leak was left unfixed.

“Envera receives full marks for the leak alert and communication. The quick actions of Soukan Huolto to locate the leak also deserve to be praised.”

Recommended by the Property Manager, Appreciated by the Board

Property Manager Kiviniitty is looking forward to the next meeting in Itäkumpu.

“I am certain that the board of the housing company is satisfied with the operation. They will surely be interested in knowing that water-related matters are in order and the risk of leaks is minimized,” Ari Kiviniitty says. “Of course I would recommend the Smartvatten service to housing companies! The water saving installations together with the remote monitoring service are exactly what smart housing companies need,” Kiviniitty concludes.
